Overview

Purpose and Scope of Position (Job Summary)

The Hostess serves as the first point of contact for guests and plays a key role in creating a warm, welcoming, and memorable dining experience.

She is responsible for greeting guests, managing reservations, coordinating table seating, and supporting the overall service operations.

The Hostess ensures service excellence and maintains the standards of a premium restaurant in Dubai’s competitive hospitality scene.

Guest Interaction & Service

  • Greet guests upon arrival with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Escort guests to their tables and present menus as needed.
  • Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and special requests promptly and courteously.
  • Provide guests with accurate information regarding menu items, promotions, and restaurant services.

Reservations & Seating Management

  • Manage reservations via phone, walk-ins, email, or reservation systems.
  • Maintain and update the seating chart and ensure organized table allocation.
  • Monitor table turnover to maximize seating efficiency.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and waitstaff to ensure smooth guest flow.

Operational Support

  • Ensure the hostess desk, entrance area, and menus are always clean and presentable.
  • Assist service staff with basic tasks during peak hours, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Communicate important guest details such as allergies, celebrations, or preferences to the team.
  • Support the Restaurant Manager during daily briefings and service preparations.

Communication & Coordination

  • Maintain close communication with front-of-house and back-of-house teams to manage guest flow.
  • Notify the team of VIP arrivals, large groups, or special requests.
  • Report operational issues or guest concerns to the Restaurant Manager promptly.

Administration & Standards

  • Uphold grooming, hygiene, and service standards according to Dubai hospitality guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of reservations, cancellations, and no-shows.
  • Protect guest privacy and follow confidentiality protocols.
  • Participate in team meetings and required trainings.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience as a Hostess or Guest Service Agent in a restaurant or hotel environment preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional appearance with a welcoming and confident personality.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during busy periods.
  • Knowledge of reservation systems (OpenTable, SevenRooms, ResDiary, etc.) is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English required; additional languages such as Arabic, Russian, or French are a plus.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Customer-focused attitude with strong problem-solving skills.
