Heavy Equipment Service Technician

Position Summary

1. Technical Service & Maintenance

• Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repairs on heavy earthmoving equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, motor graders, articulated dump trucks, and track-type tractors.
• Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and powertrain faults using advanced diagnostic tools, schematics, and hands-on inspection.
• Carry out preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing to ensure optimal equipment performance, minimize unplanned downtime, and extend component life.
• Overhaul, service, and reassemble major components such as engines, transmissions, torque converters, final drives, hydraulic pumps, control valves, cylinders, and undercarriage systems.
• Perform welding and fabrication tasks as required for equipment repairs and structural integrity restoration.

2. Field Service & Customer Support

• Provide prompt on-site field service support at customer project sites across the UAE, responding to breakdown calls and emergency repair requests to minimize project delays.
• Deliver technical guidance to customers, clearly explaining fault findings, repair procedures, and recommended operating practices.
• Maintain professional, transparent communication with customers regarding service updates, estimated completion times, and parts availability.

3. Inspection & Condition Monitoring

• Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and statutory inspections to ensure equipment meets safety and regulatory standards before deployment.
• Perform thorough condition assessments and wear analysis on undercarriage, bucket, and structural components, recommending corrective actions.
• Carry out oil sampling and analysis to detect early signs of component wear and prevent catastrophic failures.

4. Documentation & Reporting

• Accurately document all service activities, repairs, and maintenance tasks, including job cards, work orders, PDI sheets, and service reports.
• Maintain comprehensive maintenance logs and equipment service histories to support warranty claims, compliance, and asset lifecycle tracking.
• Report parts usage and recommend inventory replenishment to ensure workshop readiness.

5. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all work is performed in strict compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and UAE regulatory safety standards, including relevant Dubai Municipality and ADNOC guidelines (as applicable).
• Adhere to all Health & Safety regulations, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safe workshop practices.
• Ensure equipment is returned to service in a safe, fully operational condition, with all safety systems functional.
• Maintain tools, diagnostic equipment, and service vehicles in excellent working order.

6. Team Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Liaise with supervisors, service coordinators, and parts departments to ensure timely parts availability and efficient job scheduling.
• Participate in root cause analysis and technical reviews to identify recurring issues and recommend equipment design or process improvements.
• Support training and mentorship of junior technicians where required.
• Perform other related tasks assigned by management.

Education

• Diploma, ITI, or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Equipment Technology, or Automotive Engineering is required.

Experience

• Minimum 5–7 years of hands-on experience in servicing, maintenance, and repair of heavy earthmoving equipment (excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, graders, dump trucks).
• Proven experience with major brands such as Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Volvo, Liebherr, or JCB is highly desirable.
• Significant experience in engine, transmission, hydraulic, and undercarriage system overhaul and repair.

Technical Skills

• Advanced knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems in heavy earthmoving equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematic diagrams.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic software (e.g., Caterpillar ET, Komatsu KOMTRAX, or equivalent) and workshop tooling.
• Skilled in welding, cutting, and fabrication techniques.
• Understanding of undercarriage inspection and wear measurement standards.

Additional Requirements

• Valid UAE driving license (mandatory for field service roles).
• UAE-based heavy equipment operator licenses or certifications are advantageous.
• Physically fit and able to work in workshop and rugged site conditions.
• Willingness to undergo company-provided training and certification as required.

Working Conditions

• Work Environment: Combination of workshop-based servicing and field assignments at construction, mining, and infrastructure sites across the UAE.
• Schedule: May require extended hours, weekend work, or emergency call-outs.
• Physical Demands: Ability to stand for prolonged periods, lift and carry heavy components (up to 50 kg with assistance), work in confined spaces, and operate in outdoor conditions varying from high heat to dusty environments.
