Overview

A leading regional bank is seeking a highly accomplished professional to spearhead the management of complex corporate restructuring and recovery mandates.

This executive leadership role is responsible for managing and resolving stressed corporate exposures, developing recovery and restructuring strategies, preserving asset value, and maximizing recoveries across a diverse portfolio of corporate and commercial relationships.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior management, business units, legal counsel, and external stakeholders to deliver effective turnaround, restructuring, and recovery solutions while ensuring sound risk management and regulatory compliance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the Corporate Recovery & Restructuring function and oversee the management of stressed and non-performing corporate credit exposures.
  • Develop and implement recovery, restructuring, and turnaround strategies for complex corporate relationships.
  • Negotiate restructuring arrangements, settlements, and recovery plans with borrowers and other stakeholders.
  • Assess business viability, cash flows, collateral positions, and recovery prospects to formulate optimal resolution strategies.
  • Work closely with Corporate Banking, Credit Risk, Legal, and external advisors to manage problem accounts effectively.
  • Oversee legal recovery actions, enforcement proceedings, and collateral realization where required.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and recommend proactive measures to mitigate potential losses.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and governance standards.
  • Provide strategic insights and portfolio updates to Executive Management and relevant committees.
  • Lead and develop a team of recovery and restructuring professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Law, or a related discipline. A postgraduate qualification is preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of banking experience, with significant exposure to Corporate Recovery, Restructuring, Special Assets, Credit Risk, or Workout functions.
  • Proven track record in managing large and complex corporate restructuring and recovery cases.
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance, credit analysis, restructuring frameworks, insolvency processes, and legal recovery mechanisms.
  • Experience dealing with large corporate groups, family-owned businesses, and syndicated lending arrangements.
  • Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, analytical, and leadership capabilities.
