Technology Innovation Institute is a publicly funded research institute based in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The AI and Digital Science Research Centre develops AI research, technology prototypes, AI software stacks, and hardware systems, collaborating across domains including healthcare and cybersecurity.

Role overview

Full-stack Engineer in the AI Applications enterprise track, building and shipping end-to-end AI-powered applications.

The engineer owns user experience and engineering quality for products used by internal teams, enterprise clients, and government partners.

Applications surface Falcon and other foundation models through polished interfaces and backend orchestration.

Responsibilities

  • Build responsive frontends and backend services for AI applications, including chat, document workflows, analytics dashboards, and admin tools.
  • Integrate LLM and agentic capabilities such as streaming, function and tool calling, citations, and human-in-the-loop interactions.
  • Build APIs, orchestration layers, and data flows connecting AI services to enterprise systems, authentication, and external integrations.
  • Own performance, accessibility, error handling, and observability across the full stack.
  • Collaborate with AI engineers, product owners, designers, and client-facing teams to take prototypes to production.
  • Develop reusable component libraries, design systems, frontend standards, and testing practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline; 2–8 years building and shipping production full-stack web applications.
  • Strong frontend skills in React or equivalent, TypeScript, modern CSS, state management, and component-based architecture.
  • Strong Python backend skills, REST API design, async patterns, and database and external-service integrations; FastAPI, Flask, or similar.
  • Practical AI/LLM application experience, including streaming, tool use, and conversational UX; knowledge of authentication, authorization, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Comfort with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and modern DevOps; product sensibility and ability to ship polished features from ambiguous requirements.
  • Excellent English communication skills; Arabic is a plus.

Nice to have

  • Patents, publications in leading conferences or journals, and open-source contributions are welcome.
  • Real-time interface experience with WebSockets or server-sent events; strong design sensibility or experience working closely with designers.
  • Experience building Arabic-language or Arabic-English interfaces, or deploying AI applications in regulated industries.
