The DevOps Engineer supports development and delivery of software for advanced research.
The role designs, implements, and maintains CI/CD pipelines and application platforms with software engineers and researchers.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, packaging, and deployment.
- Support application development, resolve integration issues, and improve delivery workflows with engineers and researchers.
- Create reusable deployment templates, Helm charts, and infrastructure-as-code modules.
- Manage container builds, artifact registries, dependencies, and application configuration across development, testing, and production.
- Implement GitOps for consistent, version-controlled deployments.
- Troubleshoot build, deployment, configuration, and runtime problems.
- Integrate security checks, dependency scanning, and secrets management into pipelines.
- Improve developer experience with self-service tooling, automation, documentation, and reproducible environments.
- Work with infrastructure and reliability engineers on monitoring, scalability, and recovery requirements.
Requirements
- Experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or a similar role supporting software development teams.
- Hands-on CI/CD pipeline experience with tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
- Proficiency in Python, Bash, or another automation and tooling language.
- Linux experience including scripting, networking, and system administration.
- Containerization experience such as Docker or containerd, and application deployment on Kubernetes.
- Infrastructure-as-code and configuration management experience with tools such as Terraform, OpenTofu, or Ansible.
- Experience with Helm and GitOps tools such as FluxCD or Argo CD.
- Understanding of automated testing, artifact versioning, release management, and rollback strategies.
- Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Strong troubleshooting and collaboration skills.
- AI/ML application, GPU workload, or research software experience is a plus.
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
