The role is in the Fire Resistance Testing Division and reports to the Area Manager.
The supervisor oversees fire testing technicians, furnace operators, technical management, and laboratory personnel.
Testing and standards
- Master BS-EN, ASTM, and UL fire resistance testing standards and ensure technical and safety compliance.
- Coordinate with clients to understand testing requirements; supervise sample preparation, testing, procedures, and troubleshooting.
- Train staff on fire testing furnace components and develop an annual fire resistance testing training program.
Accreditation and quality
- Maintain ISO 17025, ISO 17065, and ISO 17020 accreditation and uphold ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Plan and maintain work systems for effective laboratory performance.
Staff and business management
- Oversee health and safety, support employees, and implement performance management and development processes.
- Manage operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities; allocate resources, improve processes, and make financially responsible decisions.
Laboratory welfare
- Manage furnace maintenance and fire safety inspections; inspect and test furnace components and maintain laboratory firefighting systems.
Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
- At least three years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Thorough knowledge of fire resistance testing standards.
- Quality- and safety-oriented, with business management, interpersonal relationship-building, teamwork, and organizational management skills.
Language and computer skills
- English reading, speaking, and writing ability.
- Proficient in internet software, email, MS Office, and database software.
