Role overview

Three-month Finance Excellence Consultant assignment for a client based in Dubai.

The role sits in the Finance Department and reports to the Director of Finance Excellence.

Focuses on strengthening financial control, reporting accuracy, and governance across finance operations and integrated financial systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assess accounting processes, general ledger and subledger activities, reporting workflows, and system interfaces for gaps that risk inaccurate or incomplete records.
  • Define exception-reporting coverage across AP, AR, general ledger, treasury, fixed assets, intercompany accounting, and month-end close.
  • Identify and document discrepancies, unreconciled balances, incorrect postings, missing entries, duplicate transactions, and reporting inconsistencies.
  • Maintain central exception inventories and trackers, including financial impact, owner, age, root cause, corrective action, target date, and closure status.
  • Set exception categories, validation rules, materiality thresholds, risk classifications, reason codes, reporting requirements, and documentation standards.
  • Coordinate discrepancy investigation and resolution; escalate aged, material, recurring, and unresolved items without assuming ownership of underlying reconciliations.
  • Develop exception and reconciliation-monitoring reports and dashboards; analyse volumes, values, ageing, trends, root causes, and remediation progress.
  • Validate data against ERP, general ledger, subledger, and supporting schedules; prepare management reporting and escalate significant risks.
  • Partner with finance owners and technology, data, and integration teams to define reporting needs, validate data lineage, automate workflows, and address reporting gaps.

Knowledge, skills, and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; ACA, ACCA, or CPA is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in finance reporting, controls, operations, data analysis, process governance, or related shared-services work.
  • Practical experience identifying, defining, and reporting financial exceptions across systems, interfaces, reconciliations, and reports.
  • Experience defining business rules, data requirements, controls, ownership, service levels, and governance for reports, trackers, or dashboards.
  • Strong knowledge of finance processes, reporting controls, ageing, root-cause analysis, data quality, compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Experience coordinating finance and technology stakeholders, deadlines, remediation, and escalations in shared-services or complex multi-entity environments.
  • Techno-functional experience with Oracle Fusion and linked modules or equivalent solutions; exposure to finance and reconciliation platforms is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of finance data flows, interfaces, source-to-report lineage, control totals, data-quality checks, and integrated-system failure points.
  • Strong analytical capability in exception definition, data profiling, ageing, trend analysis, root-cause identification, and report validation.

Assignment duration

  • The role is for three months.

Client location

  • The client is based in Dubai; the description does not specify a workplace arrangement.
