Airport Operations Systems Lead

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, and integration of terminal systems for check-in, boarding, and gates; airfield systems; and baggage systems.
• Define technical and operational requirements aligned with airport strategy, safety standards, and future capacity planning.
• Coordinate stakeholders, consultants, and solution providers to meet schedules, scope, quality, and performance benchmarks.
• Oversee daily system performance and reliability to maintain uninterrupted 24/7 functionality.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, incident-response protocols, and business-continuity strategies.
• Coordinate with AOCC, IT, baggage operations, and airside teams for integrated, real-time situational awareness.
• Implement AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics for decision support, passenger-flow optimization, and resource allocation.
• Lead digital transformation using automation, cloud architectures, and intelligent systems.
• Ensure interoperability across security, passenger services, baggage, and flight operations.
• Lead system upgrades and migrations, aligning with cybersecurity and compliance frameworks.

Knowledge, skills and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or Aviation Management; a master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 10 years of airport systems or aviation IT experience, including leadership in large-scale technology implementations.
• In-depth knowledge of terminal systems (CUTE/CUPPS, CUSS, FIDS, BRS, security screening), airfield systems (AODB, RMS, surface movement, surveillance, GMS), and baggage systems (BHS, SCADA, airline DCS and BRS integration).
• Experience designing or implementing AI/ML-enabled systems for data-driven operations.
• Track record enhancing passenger processing, self-service technologies, and biometric integrations.
• Familiarity with aviation standards (IATA, ICAO, ACI) and ITSM frameworks such as ITIL.
• Excellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills.
• English proficiency is essential; Arabic proficiency is a plus.
