Role overview
The Field Application Engineer supports utility-scale battery energy storage system projects through commissioning, grid connection, performance testing, troubleshooting, and after-sales technical support.
Responsibilities
- Support commissioning, grid connection, performance testing, troubleshooting, and operation of BESS equipment, including battery systems, PCS, BMS, and EMS.
- Lead or support on-site electrical commissioning and system integration during grid-connection activities.
- Diagnose complex field issues and coordinate with R&D, Engineering, and Quality teams on root-cause analysis and resolution.
- Support customers, local service partners, and internal service teams to maintain system availability and operational performance.
- Apply regional power-system requirements and translate field and customer feedback into product and system improvements.
- Prepare and maintain commissioning procedures, test reports, troubleshooting guides, O&M documentation, and technical SOPs.
- Train and provide technical support to local service partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, Automation, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of commissioning, grid-connection, or performance-testing experience in large-scale BESS, solar, or other renewable-energy projects.
- Strong understanding of BESS architecture and BMS protection and control logic.
- Hands-on experience with PCS/BMS commissioning and power-plant grid-connection processes.
- Strong troubleshooting and technical documentation capabilities.
- Fluent English; additional regional languages are a plus.
- Willingness to travel extensively or be based in the region.
