Estimation Engineer/ Estimator - Interior Fit-Out

Job purpose

Estimation and tendering

• Prepare estimates and quotations for offices, retail outlets, restaurants, showrooms, and other interior spaces.
• Review architectural, interior design, joinery, MEP, and other drawings, specifications, BOQs, and tender documents.
• Calculate material, labour, equipment, and other project quantities and costs, including fit-out trades and finishes.
• Evaluate MEP costs with relevant specialists or subcontractors and include direct costs, indirect costs, overheads, contingencies, and profit margins.
• Identify missing information, discrepancies, design changes, and cost risks before finalizing estimates.
• Prepare BOQs, rate analyses, cost breakdowns, and commercial proposals; submit complete quotations within deadlines.
• Develop alternative costings and value-engineering proposals where appropriate; state exclusions, assumptions, qualifications, and provisional sums.
• Support tender clarifications, commercial negotiations, and revised submissions.

Coordination and cost control

• Obtain and compare supplier, subcontractor, and service-provider quotations by price, quality, compliance, delivery, and commercial terms.
• Maintain cost databases and coordinate pricing and technical requirements with procurement, design, projects, and operations teams.
• Conduct site visits and surveys when required to verify dimensions, conditions, access, and execution requirements.
• Coordinate scope clarifications and assess installation requirements, site constraints, logistics, wastage, and project risks.
• Prepare estimation handover documents and explain scope, quantities, assumptions, cost allocations, and exclusions to project teams.
• Support budgets, cost comparisons, variation quotations, additional-work pricing, and evaluation of design or scope changes and material substitutions.
• Review actual costs against estimates when required and provide feedback to improve future estimates.
• Maintain drawings, BOQs, quotations, rate analyses, tender submissions, and revisions; use current drawings and specifications and report status or risks to management.
• Maintain confidentiality of company pricing, tender information, and commercial data.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of interior fit-out estimation and costing experience.
• Experience preparing BOQs, quantity take-offs, rate analyses, and detailed commercial quotations.
• Strong knowledge of interior fit-out materials, construction methods, finishes, joinery, and installation requirements.
• Experience with architectural drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• UAE fit-out estimation experience is preferred.
• Experience with commercial office, retail, hospitality, restaurant, and other fit-out projects is advantageous.

Technical skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD for reading drawings and taking measurements.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for costing, BOQs, and rate analysis.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and estimation software or ERP systems.
