Environmental Engineer I

Role purpose and setting

Environmental compliance and reporting

• Identify environmental permit and license requirements and support permitting documents and communications with regulatory authorities.
• Monitor compliance with Qatari environmental legislation, company permits, internal policies, and contractual requirements.
• Gather and verify environmental data for monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports.
• Monitor environmental KPIs and support performance reporting, dashboards, and environmental monitoring surveys.
• Support greenhouse gas accounting, air-emissions estimates, and OGMP 2.0 methane measurement and reporting.
• Coordinate fugitive-emissions surveys using OGI cameras and support environmental-data process digitalization.

Waste, chemicals, and radiation

• Advise on waste classification, handling, and disposal; coordinate waste characterization and waste contractor audits.
• Support waste, chemical, and radiation reporting and maintain NORM and radiation-protection records.
• Support NORM monitoring programs, occupational dosimetry, radiation-protection advice, and radiation-related license applications.
• Review chemical-toxicity ratings, toxicity-assay reports, and environmental screening assessments.

Environmental management system

• Support implementation and continual improvement of the company’s ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
• Review environmental procedures, aspect-impact registers, operational controls, and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate environmental training, awareness, audits, and follow-up of audit findings and management review actions.
• Review environmental baseline and impact studies, contractor environmental plans, and environmental change requests.
• Support marine-biodiversity programs, sustainability initiatives, and environmental communications.

Oil-spill preparedness

• Review and update response procedures and coordinate oil-spill training, equipment inspections, and maintenance programs.
• Coordinate with oil-spill response-support organizations and maintain third-party response capabilities.
• Participate in oil-spill drills, exercises, emergency response, and designated spill duties.
• Review lessons learned and support corrective actions after drills, exercises, and incidents.

Education, experience, and training

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline.
• At least eight years of relevant environmental-management experience in an operational setting.
• Three to five years of oil and gas operations or major development project experience is preferred.
• A relevant master’s degree is preferred.
• Training or qualifications listed include ISO 14001 Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor, IMDG, IMO Level 2 oil-spill response, and Radiation Protection Officer certification or recognized training.
• Experience working across multidisciplinary teams and engaging regulators, contractors, operational personnel, and management is required.
• Must be willing and able to undertake regular offshore visits.
