Role overview
Supervises engineering and facilities work at a hotel, including equipment upkeep, life-safety checks, guest repairs, and employee support.
Maintenance and facilities
- Install, maintain, and perform preventive maintenance on tools, appliances, and equipment; recommend replacements.
- Calibrate controls, gauges, and meters; identify, locate, and operate shut-off valves.
- Order, mark, and stock parts and supplies; maintain inventory and purchase-order logs.
- Inspect tools, equipment, and machines; use computers to enter and find work-related information.
- Operate power lifts and complete life-safety checklists, including fire-pump and generator run tests.
- Inspect fire sprinkler valves and alarm systems, and assist with disaster response protocols.
- Respond to guest repair requests.
Team and safety
- Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees.
- Report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, and injuries; follow company safety and security procedures.
- Identify, recommend, develop, and implement improvements in efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, or cost savings.
- Welcome guests, address service needs, maintain positive working relationships, and uphold quality standards.
Preferred qualifications and physical demands
- A technical, trade, or vocational school degree is preferred.
- At least 2 years of related work experience and 2 years of supervisory experience are preferred.
- Able to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and perform extended standing, walking, reaching, bending, and stair use.
