Biomedical equipment duties
- Provide domain knowledge during pre-purchase evaluation of biomedical equipment.
- Inspect, inventory, and mark incoming equipment before use.
- Train and assist staff in equipment maintenance and operation.
- Conduct rounds and systematic preventive maintenance; rectify problems promptly.
- Maintain equipment inventory and records of inspections, repairs, condition, and operation.
- Diagnose faults using test instruments, technical literature, schematics, and engineering information.
- Advise on electrical and other safety standards and prepare reports.
- Coordinate and evaluate contractor maintenance, calibration, installation, and service documentation.
- Assess risks with Facilities Management teams and develop controls.
- Prepare spare-parts requisitions and manage vendors, including PCB and major-assembly repair options.
- Contribute to department manuals, policies, procedures, quality initiatives, and equipment monitoring.
Safety and compliance
- Follow applicable hospital occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and safe working instructions.
- Report hazards, incidents, accidents, and near misses; participate in risk assessments, inspections, audits, and monitoring.
- Maintain hand tools, portable machines, and equipment in good working order.
- Use and maintain soldering equipment according to the manufacturer and comply with applicable compressed-gas procedures.
- Protect health information by following privacy, confidentiality, network-security, and data-integrity procedures.
- Maintain awareness of service-area disaster recovery plans and participate in business continuity activities when required.
Additional duties
Attend seminars and workshops to keep biomedical equipment knowledge current.
Perform other related duties assigned by the Medical Administrator.
