Amazon Leo is a low Earth orbit satellite network intended to provide internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks.
The Satellite Gateway team develops embedded software for satellite and ground systems, including fault-tolerant, real-time platforms.
Responsibilities
- Develop embedded software in C, C++, and Python, including Linux kernel drivers, device drivers, and system applications.
- Write software that interacts with microcontrollers; maintain drivers and device-tree overlays for SPI, I3C, I2C, CAN, GPIO, DMA, and UIO interfaces.
- Support board bring-up and integration testing with software and hardware teams.
- Build and maintain Yocto/OpenEmbedded distributions, BitBake recipes and layers, boot and storage features, secure boot, and SWUpdate images.
- Develop software for Embedded Linux and bare-metal/AMP platforms; debug integration issues with logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
- Develop kernel features targeting AMD/Xilinx Versal and Zynq SoCs; carry software from requirements and design through testing and deployment.
Basic qualifications
- At least 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of embedded firmware development experience.
- At least 2 years with Yocto/OpenEmbedded or a comparable embedded Linux build system.
Preferred qualifications
- At least 5 years of full software development life-cycle experience across coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Experience with networking or consumer devices using embedded Linux, Yocto, or bare-metal targets; eBPF/libbpf or Lua tooling is also noted.
- Experience with manufacturing diagnostics through hardware, engineering, device, or production validation phases.
Compensation
- The listed annual base salary range is USD 143,700–194,400 for Redmond, Washington, and San Diego, California; compensation may include sign-on payments and restricted stock units.
