The Duty Manager works as a Retail Assistant and receives a £2 per hour supplement for the time spent managing shifts.
Store performance
- Maintain customer product availability and support store sales through the “sell a £1 & save a £1” initiative.
- Deliver actions assigned by the line manager and complete customer-focused actions from daily floor walks.
People and leadership
- Support the Talking Shop Representative and team engagement.
- Help create an inclusive culture, develop the team, and share knowledge to support colleagues’ skills.
- Lead hands-on during shifts, communicate effectively, plan work, and provide balanced colleague feedback.
Service and processes
- Provide service in store and at customers’ doorsteps.
- Follow cash-handling and security policies and implement “One Best Way” processes for digital service.
Skills and experience
- Retail management or supervisory experience is ideal but not essential.
- The role calls for effective communication, shift planning, balanced feedback, and hands-on team leadership.
