Deputy Manager working with the Store Manager to improve store performance, lead the team, deliver customer service, and ensure successful store operations.
Store performance and operations
- Review sales, operations, and digital performance weekly, set priorities, improve results, and deliver agreed KPIs.
- Improve availability and cost control through effective processes and support sales and profit.
- Complete a daily store walk and take action to maintain customer-facing standards.
- Implement cash handling, security, digital service, legal compliance, and health and safety processes.
- Provide service in store and at customers’ doorsteps, and take action to reduce waste.
People leadership
- Support team engagement through effective communication, appreciation, respect, and an inclusive culture.
- Develop colleagues through coaching, upskilling, development resources, and regular performance conversations.
- Lead by example, solve problems, plan and prioritize tasks, delegate effectively, and motivate the team.
- Take full responsibility for the store operation, colleagues, and customers when the Store Manager is absent.
Required skills and experience
- Proven experience in a retail management role.
- Strong leadership, team management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment, manage priorities, solve problems, and make decisions.
- Customer-focused with a commitment to outstanding service.
- Flexible to work across different stores.
