The Deputy Manager works with the Store Manager to improve store performance, lead the team and deliver a seamless operation and customer service.
The role takes responsibility for store operations, colleagues and customers when the Store Manager is absent.
Responsibilities
- Review sales, operational and digital performance weekly, identify priorities and take action to improve results and deliver KPIs.
- Improve availability and cost control through effective processes and sales-focused activity.
- Engage, develop and retain colleagues through communication, recognition, coaching and performance conversations.
- Complete daily store walks and act on findings to maintain customer-facing standards.
- Implement cash handling, security, digital service, legal compliance and health and safety processes.
- Lead by example, plan and prioritise work, solve problems, delegate tasks and motivate the team.
- Work with the Talking Shop representative and support team engagement.
Required skills and experience
- Proven experience in a retail management role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer-focused approach and passion for outstanding service.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Flexibility to work across different stores.
