We're looking for an Operations Director to build and lead the engine behind CargoX's autonomous delivery service across the UAE.
You'll own how our fleet runs; you will be responsible for maintaining the standards that keep operations consistent as we scale.
This is a build and run role: you'll set the operating model, hit the performance and cost targets and work with our technology partners to put a reliable, market leading product on the road.
If you want to own a fleet's entire ground operation and shape how autonomous delivery actually works in the region, this is the seat.
What You'll Do
Own the operations strategy and operating model across Remote Operations, Maintenance, Mapping, and Operations Excellence.
Own the operations P&L and fleet economics: vehicle uptime, cost per vehicle, maintenance cost, and cost per delivery.
Maximize fleet availability, utilization, and productive delivery hours across operational zones.
Build and own remote-operations capability; - control room, remote vehicle management/intervention, manual dispatch, and live issue resolution.
Direct the maintenance function; depot operations (charging, cleaning, repairs), mobile/roadside assistance, and spare-parts inventory and vehicle procurement — including governance of outsourced providers.
Own the mapping function - map collection, validation, and testing and the structured feedback loop to the technical team to improve map coverage and quality.
Establish SOPs, safety protocols, standards, and continuous-improvement programs across all operational pillars.
Own the operational safety case, incident management, and regulatory/permitting requirements for autonomous operations.
Define operational requirements for the in-house technology toolset and its integration with the vehicle platform's stack for maintenance and charging operations.
Manage vendor relationships and SLAs for outsourced operations; orchestrate cross-entity coordination with CargoX operations.
Build and develop the operations leadership team; build the organization and playbook to scale the fleet and enter new zones.
Report operational performance, risks, and improvement plans to the executive team and Board.
Who You Are
- 15+ years in operations, including 5+ years in senior leadership, ideally in autonomous-vehicle, EV/connected-fleet, mobility, or last-mile logistics operations.
- Deep understanding of fleet operations, remote/teleoperation, maintenance, and mapping for autonomous or connected vehicles.
- Technical fluency to interface credibly with an OEM technical team.
- Strong commercial and unit-economics acumen; data-driven decision-making.
- Executive leadership, vendor management, and cross-entity orchestration.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Logistics, or a related field; postgraduate qualification (MBA or similar) preferred.
- Proven track record of owning fleet availability and an operations P&L at scale.
- Experience managing technical operations and OEM/vendor partnerships in a multi-stakeholder environment.
