Role overview
Design Director in the corporate development and technical services team, reporting to the Chief Design and Construction Officer.
Leads aesthetic vision and design standards for global developments, renovations, and brand extensions.
Acts as brand guardian across architecture, interiors, and guest experience environments, balancing brand identity with local authenticity.
Design direction and project oversight
- Define the brand’s visual language, spatial philosophy, and experiential identity for hotels, resorts, and branded residences.
- Review and approve consultant proposals, concepts, and documentation; lead design workshops and aesthetic reviews.
- Oversee global projects from feasibility through opening and serve as corporate liaison to third-party design teams.
- Evaluate consultants, make recommendations, and lead shortlisting.
- Contribute to master planning and spatial programming in early feasibility studies.
Cross-functional and brand work
- Coordinate with Development and Technical Services to integrate brand identity and operational functionality.
- Support innovation in wellness, sustainability, food and beverage, and luxury experiences through spatial storytelling and design.
- Facilitate collaboration with marketing, operations, procurement, and brand teams.
- Represent the brand at design conferences, press engagements, and industry events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field from a globally recognized institution.
- Strong luxury design sensibility, knowledge of hospitality trends, materials, FF&E, and spatial programming.
- Able to manage complex global projects and direct multidisciplinary teams.
- International outlook and cross-cultural sensitivity to regional design nuances.
- Fluent in spoken and written English; willing and able to travel frequently.
Tools and competencies
- Comprehensive ability with MS software, AutoCAD 2D and 3D, BIM/Revit, online document control systems, and InDesign or Canva.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and presentation skills.
- Passion for innovation, guest-centric experiences, and contemporary interpretations of heritage.
Travel
- The role requires frequent travel.
