Combine hands-on database administration and development across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Redis.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain scalable database environments; optimize queries, indexes, execution plans, and production performance.
- Manage backup, recovery, replication, high availability, and restore and failover testing.
- Control schema changes and migrations; develop T-SQL procedures, functions, views, ETL processes, and integrations.
- Manage permissions, encryption, masking, and audit logging; monitor database health, capacity, and availability.
- Support incident response and troubleshooting; establish database standards with engineering, platform, reliability, and security teams.
- Use AI-assisted tools for development and diagnosis, validating their outputs.
Required experience and knowledge
- 5+ years administering and developing production relational databases; strong hands-on MS SQL Server and T-SQL experience and working knowledge of PostgreSQL.
- Strong query optimization, indexing, execution-plan, and performance troubleshooting experience; expertise in backup, recovery, replication, and high availability.
- Experience with migration tools such as DbUp, Flyway, or Liquibase; working knowledge of Redis, containerized workloads, connection pooling, credential rotation, and TLS.
- Hands-on ELK stack experience; exposure to cloud-managed databases across AWS, Azure, GCP, or Alibaba Cloud and on-premise environments.
- Working knowledge of Linux/Bash, PowerShell, and Windows command-line tools; strong problem-solving, ownership, and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and ability to review and validate generated outputs.
