Data Center Senior Mechanical Engineer

Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs, calculations, and technical documentation for data centers, including HVAC layouts, equipment schedules, piping schematics, and specifications.
• Design and coordinate HVAC, chilled water, DX cooling, ventilation, precision cooling, fire protection, and public health systems for mission critical environments.
• Perform cooling load calculations, equipment sizing, engineering studies, and technical reporting using industry standard practices and software.
• Coordinate with electrical, architectural, structural, and BIM teams to ensure integrated project delivery and compliance with project requirements.
• Review shop drawings, technical submittals, material specifications, and participate in design reviews, value engineering, and technical coordination meetings.
• Conduct site inspections, surveys, and support construction, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and design implementation activities.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, local regulations, international codes and standards, while maintaining accurate project documentation and timely deliverables.
• Support the development and standardization of engineering specifications, documentation templates, and adoption of industry best practices and emerging technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 6–10 years of mechanical design engineering experience within consultancy, contractor, or design-build environments, preferably involving data center, mission-critical, commercial, or industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of data center standards (TIA-942, Uptime), HVAC design standards (ASHRAE, CIBSE, SMACNA, NFPA), and local authority requirements.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Revit, BIM workflows, HAP, IES, or similar mechanical engineering software is advantageous.
• Experience with mission critical cooling infrastructure, including chilled water systems, CRAH/CRAC units, Fan Wall Units, Cooling Distribution Units, ventilation systems, and mechanical plant design.
• Strong technical coordination, analytical, problem solving, and communication skills, with experience working in multidisciplinary BIM environments.
• Knowledge of sustainable, energy efficient building systems, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain engineering quality, and meet project deadlines in a fast paced environment.

Salary

• Between QAR 15,000 – 20,000
