Contract Manager

Role Purpose

Key Accountabilities

• Review of all incoming contractual correspondence and implementation of necessary responses in protection of the company’s contractual and commercial interests on the project.
• Demonstrate a sound working knowledge and application of the construction contract and supplier / subcontract agreements in their administration; together with advising on good contractual techniques and processes for the benefit of the company.
• Assume overall responsibility of day to day contractual administration on given projects, and providing ongoing advice to all concerned parties (Project Director, Project Manager, etc)
• Draft timely contractual notices for potential time and cost related events.
• Prepare and submit of formal detailed documents in relation to time and cost-related events in accordance with contractual requirements and organizational objectives.
• Coordinate with project members and client/consultant teams in providing solutions to commercial and contractual issues.
• Assist in resolving commercial / contractual disputes with subcontracts and supplies in coordination with the project team.
• Advise on an ongoing basis to the management and project team in relation to contractual matters, including options for implementation.
• Prepare, monitor and maintain all contractual correspondence logs which have potential legal or contractual implications for the organization.
• Ensure to the fullest extent possible that commercial and contractual disputes are avoided by taking all necessary and appropriate measures in a timely manner.
• Disseminate of the timely and accurate identification, support and advice regarding a project’s commercial and contractual risks in order to avoid/mitigate unnecessary additional costs to the projects.
• Attend all required site progress, commercial and contractual meetings, both internal and external to the organization.
• Review and comment of monthly commercial reports in conjunction with project team.
• Develop knowledge of SQS/QS by advising on day to day contractual issues where uncertainty in understanding occurs.
• Ensure that all established HSE & Quality policies are administered and enforced in all areas.
• Report all violations and resolved on time
• Effective implementation of HSE Management system as per HSE procedures

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

• BS Engineering or other relevant field; MS in construction management is highly desirable
• 10 + years related working experience in well-established Contracting Companies in GCC
• Understand the strategic financial structure of any type of bid and contract conditions.
• Ensures that the site team understands and has access to the relevant contract information.
• Familiar with departmental systems and procedures. Is aware of current and emerging trends within the markets the Company operates.
• Is able to negotiate contract variations so as to maximize business return in the short or long term.
• Maintains an up-to-date awareness of program performance on all projects and ensures that all target programs are on track and takes appropriate action to manage any variance.
• Demonstrates a comprehensive technical knowledge.
• Always acts in a courteous and professional manner to fulfil the role of Company ambassador.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English.
