Construction Materials Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Inspect and evaluate concrete, cement, steel, aggregates, asphalt and other building materials.
• Conduct and coordinate material testing against project specifications and quality standards.
• Review material test reports, technical data sheets, submittals and conformity certificates.
• Check materials against project specifications and applicable ASTM, BS, EN and other standards.
• Coordinate with site engineers, quality teams, suppliers, contractors and third-party testing laboratories.
• Monitor mix designs, concrete sampling, slump tests, compressive strength tests and other material tests.
• Inspect sites and verify the quality of delivered construction materials.
• Identify non-conforming materials and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain inspection records, laboratory results, quality reports and approvals.
• Support QA/QC activities and investigate material failures, defects and quality issues.
• Ensure proper storage, handling and use of materials at project sites.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, Construction Materials Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in construction materials testing, inspection or quality control.
• Strong knowledge of concrete, cement, steel, aggregates and asphalt.
• Familiarity with material testing procedures and standards such as ASTM, BS and EN.
• Experience reviewing laboratory reports, material submittals and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of QA/QC procedures and construction quality requirements.
• Ability to coordinate with site teams, suppliers, consultants and testing laboratories.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office for reports and records.
• UAE construction project experience is preferred.
