Role Overview
Tractebel is Owner's Engineer for the Al Khushaybi Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Independent Power Project in Al Qassim Region, Saudi Arabia.
The project is developed by ENGIE and consortium partners under the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) Battery Energy Storage Program.
The Al Khushaybi BESS facility has a capacity of 500 MW with 4 hours of storage duration (2,000 MWh).
Tractebel provides independent technical oversight and assurance across design review, engineering management, technology assessment, construction supervision, testing and commissioning support, and compliance verification.

Role Purpose
Support successful delivery of a flagship utility-scale energy storage project through technical excellence, quality, safety, reliability, and timely execution.
Coordinate with the Developer, EPC Contractors, OEMs, Grid Operator, SPPC, and other stakeholders to meet schedule, budget, and performance requirements.
Meet international best practices for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems.
Site Responsibilities
- Supervise construction works to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Monitor quality, progress, and workmanship and witness inspections and tests.
- Coordinate all Engineer's site services and disciplines and interface with EPC and Client teams.
- Ensure site execution aligns with design intent and applicable standards.
- Identify non-conformities, site risks, and delays and ensure timely escalation.
- Prepare and submit regular site progress and event reports.
- Maintain accurate site records and support milestone achievement and handover.
- Act as focal point for all site-related matters from the Owner's Engineer side.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is mandatory.
- Must have substation experience in KSA with SEC and National Grid.
- Minimum 10 years of experience.
- Substation experience with Saudi Electricity Company and National Grid.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant professional certification related to the role or discipline.
- Professional membership or accreditation where applicable.
- Software/system/tool certification relevant to the role.
- Experience with BESS integration along with grid is preferable.
Languages
- English is required.
- Arabic is required.
