Purpose of the Role
Manage and control construction-related costs, support commercially sound decisions and competitive procurement, and deliver cost savings while maintaining technical, quality, and project standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor construction costs, budgets, and expenditure.
- Review quotations, BOQs, material costs, and subcontractor proposals.
- Identify cost-saving and value-engineering opportunities without compromising project requirements.
- Review civil, architectural, and MEP technical and commercial requirements.
- Collaborate with Construction, Engineering, Procurement, Quantity Surveying, and Finance teams.
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing and support commercial negotiations.
- Review variations, additional works, claims, and cost implications.
- Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and identify overruns and leakage.
- Provide cost analysis, forecasts, and recommendations to management.
- Support tendering and procurement through cost benchmarking and market comparison.
- Maintain cost, quotation, approval, and commercial-decision records.
- Align cost-saving initiatives with specifications, timelines, and technical requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, MEP Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Ideally 8–12+ years of UAE construction experience in cost management, quantity surveying, or commercial functions.
- Strong practical understanding of MEP systems and construction requirements.
- Experience with BOQs, cost estimates, variations, subcontractor pricing, and commercial negotiations.
- Demonstrated cost optimization and value-engineering experience.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- UAE construction or developer experience is preferred.
- MRICS or an equivalent professional qualification is advantageous.
