Position Overview
The Commis Chef – Hot Kitchen will support the kitchen team in the preparation and production of hot food items while ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance with food safety standards.
This position is ideal for individuals looking to develop their culinary skills in a professional kitchen environment.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items within the hot kitchen section.
- Prepare ingredients and maintain proper mise en place before service.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
- Monitor and follow proper food storage, labeling, and stock rotation procedures.
- Support senior chefs during food preparation and service operations.
- Assist with inventory control, stock checks, and receiving deliveries.
- Adhere to all company policies related to food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety.
- Contribute to minimizing food wastage and maintaining cost control measures.
Qualifications And Skills
- Certificate or training in culinary arts is an advantage.
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment is preferred.
- Basic understanding of cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
