The Commis 1 – Prep Cook prepares ingredients, completes mise en place, and supports efficient kitchen operations and consistent food quality.
Immediate joiner required; the role is based in Jumeirah 1, Dubai.
Responsibilities
- Prepare vegetables, fruits, meats, seafood, sauces, and other ingredients according to approved recipes.
- Complete daily mise en place; wash, peel, cut, portion, label, and store ingredients correctly.
- Assist senior chefs with preparation and cooking, following recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines.
- Check ingredient freshness; follow FIFO, storage, temperature-control, and waste-reduction procedures.
- Monitor stock and report shortages or damaged items to the supervising chef.
- Keep work areas, utensils, equipment, and storage spaces clean and organized.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and HACCP standards; support other kitchen sections as needed.
Requirements
- Must be available to join immediately and currently based in the UAE.
- At least 1–2 years of experience as a Commis 1, Commis Chef, or Prep Cook.
- Good knowledge of ingredient preparation, knife handling, basic cooking techniques, kitchen hygiene, food safety, and storage.
- Able to follow recipes and instructions accurately; organized, dependable, and attentive to detail.
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen and work rotational shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Culinary training or a relevant qualification is preferred.
Compensation
- Pay is AED 3,500–4,000 per month.
Workplace and employment
- Full-time, in-person work in Dubai.
