Role overview

Commercial and quantity surveying duties

• Lead quantity surveying, commercial management, and project cost-control activities.
• Prepare and review BOQs, detailed cost estimates, budgets, and quantity take-offs.
• Measure and evaluate excavation, earthworks, backfilling, roadworks, pipeline installation, and other civil infrastructure work.
• Monitor heavy equipment costs, rentals, transportation, material consumption, and subcontractor expenditure.
• Review tender documents, contracts, drawings, specifications, and commercial terms.
• Manage interim payment applications, progress valuations, variations, claims, and final accounts.

Cost management and coordination

• Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations, rates, and contractual terms.
• Monitor project budgets, committed costs, cash flow, cost-to-complete forecasts, and profitability.
• Prepare monthly commercial reports and provide management with financial and cost-control updates.
• Identify commercial risks, cost overruns, and cost-optimization opportunities.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, procurement, finance, site operations, clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
• Lead and supervise quantity surveying and commercial teams, maintaining commercial records and contractual compliance.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• At least 15 years of relevant professional experience in quantity surveying and commercial management.
• Significant experience in a senior or managerial QS role; experience managing major civil infrastructure projects is preferred.
• Experience in roadworks, earthworks, excavation, backfilling, pipeline works, or infrastructure projects.
• Previous UAE experience is preferred, especially in Abu Dhabi.
• Strong expertise in BOQ preparation, cost estimation, contract administration, variations, claims, interim payments, and final accounts.
• Heavy equipment costing, material transportation, equipment rental, and subcontractor management experience is desirable.
• Good knowledge of FIDIC-based contracts and UAE construction practices.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with quantity surveying software, ERP systems, and project cost-control tools.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Pay

• Pay is AED 1.00 per month.

• Work location is in person in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
