The Chief CAD Designer - Mechanical for Halcon leads creation, control, and release of complex mechanical design documentation in a regulated engineering environment.
The role delivers compliant, manufacturing-ready engineering drawings and 3D models and provides technical leadership to the Drawing Office.
Responsibilities
- Develop complex 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings using Creo and SolidWorks.
- Generate manufacturing-ready documentation for sheet metal, machined parts, welded structures, assemblies, BOMs, DXFs, and CNC-ready files.
- Manage CAD data, document and revision control, and Engineering Change Requests/Notices within Windchill PLM.
- Provide technical oversight, approve drawings, mentor colleagues, and improve CAD standards, templates, and design practices.
Basic qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 12–15 years of experience in mechanical CAD design, detailing, and manufacturing documentation.
- Advanced Creo and SolidWorks skills, including part modelling, assemblies, sheet metal, and drawing modules.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T, BS 8888, ISO GPS standards, and Windchill PDM/PLM configuration management.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in defence, aerospace, precision engineering, or another highly regulated engineering industry is preferred.
- Experience in configuration-controlled environments, quality management systems, and safety-critical product development programs is preferred.
