Job Summary

Roles & Responsibilities

• Comply with safety rules and regulations and be familiar with firefighting equipment in the assigned area.
• Be familiar with plant P&IDs, SOPs, work instructions, operation and control logic, emergency operating procedures, and related documents.
• Monitor all unit parameters and record periodic readings on log sheets; summarize shift activities and events in the logbook.
• Follow instructions of the Shift Charge Engineer and Shift Supervisor and coordinate with other operators.
• Remain alert and take prompt action during abnormal operating conditions.
• Coordinate and ensure LOTO during equipment isolation for maintenance per the PTW procedure; normalize equipment after cancellation when instructed.
• Inspect the unit and auxiliaries during the shift and report abnormalities.
• Perform periodic protection tests under supervision and maintain records; perform equipment changeovers per schedules.
• Raise work requests or defect notifications for faulty equipment and follow up on rectification.
• Assist in the training and familiarization of new operators.
• Report near misses and implement prescribed risk controls; report QHSE management system deviations.
• Ensure proper waste disposal measures are followed and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

• Diploma in Engineering is a must.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the same position.

Required Skills

• General awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety, and Environmental Management System principles.
• Knowledge of waste identification, classification, and disposal.
• Knowledge of emission monitoring.
• Knowledge of the environmental and health impacts of chemicals used in the plant.
• Knowledge of firefighting equipment.
• Knowledge of PPE and safety equipment.
• Knowledge of first-aid measures.
• Good knowledge of Power/Water Plant operational activities.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Analytical skills.
• Hazard Risk Assessment capability.
• Knowledge of Aspect Impact Assessment.

Desired Certification / Training

• ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 awareness/working knowledge is preferred.
• Basic computer skills.
