The Category Manager joins Maersk Procurement’s Terminal Procurement team for West and Central Asia.
The role supports company strategy through purposeful procurement, customer value creation, and cost competitiveness.
Annual spend under the role’s scope is approximately USD 300 million.
Key responsibilities
- Set category strategy for the portfolio in line with global and regional strategies.
- Partner with suitable suppliers to create customer value and support priorities for sustainability, resilience, and digitalization.
- Analyze current spend patterns, cost drivers, and opportunities in complex marketplaces.
- Develop models to assess supplier offers and quantify total costs and total value of ownership.
- Prepare negotiation strategies and lead supplier negotiations.
- Update contract management tools and ensure contract compliance.
- Communicate complex messages effectively to leadership.
- Work with internal stakeholders to create customer value and safeguard cost competitiveness.
- Deliver on time and in line with procurement targets.
Candidate qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree at minimum; an MBA or master’s degree is preferred.
- Solid work experience focused on procurement or sales.
- Strong analytical abilities and interpersonal and communication skills.
- Stakeholder-management skills and the ability to build trust in challenging situations.
- Good experience in financial or Excel modeling is preferred.
- Willingness to travel and ability to appreciate and operate in a cross-cultural environment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, work as a team player, and execute under pressure.
- Innovative mindset, comfort challenging the status quo, and entrepreneurial spirit.
