Buy materials required by production and other departments while supporting production schedules.
Source suppliers and products and negotiate price, lead time, and payment terms in coordination with Procurement Engineers.
Key responsibilities
- Review purchasing requests for parts and items to verify accuracy, terminology, and specifications.
- Generate and place purchase orders with vendors.
- Coordinate with vendors and forwarders to support accurate, on-time delivery; follow shipments through arrival at port and update the ERP system.
- Coordinate with the Material Planner to assess inventory and determine purchase quantities by item.
- Maintain the purchase-order tracking report and prepare monthly purchasing, supplier, and order-frequency reports.
- Source suppliers and products; follow up on samples and tests and coordinate with Engineering, R&D, QA/QC, and suppliers.
- Obtain two or more quotations for purchases where applicable, in coordination with Procurement Engineers.
- Analyze purchasing trends, forecast buying requirements, and report on supplier lead times, change orders, and purchase price variances.
- Maintain the approved vendor list and price list.
- Follow up on material discrepancy reports with QC and suppliers through closure and maintain records.
- Contribute to team goals and complete other assignments from management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Knowledge of planning, purchasing, and logistics policies and practices.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office and ERP software.
Skills and experience
- Negotiation skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- HVAC experience is preferable.
- Experience in a manufacturing company is preferred.
