Biotech Health Data Governance Lead

Role overview

What you'll do

• Govern biotech research and clinical trial datasets for accuracy, lineage, and auditability in scientific analysis and regulatory submissions.
• Define and enforce policies for data classification, access controls, security protocols, and metadata standards.
• Enable secure data access for analytics, AI model development, and external collaboration while protecting confidential and patient-related information.
• Improve data quality workflows, annotation standards, and readiness for AI training pipelines.
• Collaborate across scientific, IT, compliance, business, and partner teams to align governance with operational and regulatory requirements.
• Support scalable, auditable data governance practices for life sciences and AI research.

Who you are

• Experience leading or implementing governance programs in biotech, life sciences, clinical research, or another regulated data environment.
• Deep knowledge of privacy, security, compliance, and regulatory expectations for research and clinical trial data.
• Able to translate governance requirements into actionable standards for scientific, technical, and business teams.
• Detail-oriented and systematic, with clear documentation practices.
• Self-directed and reliable in a remote, asynchronous environment.

Preferred experience

• Data annotation, data quality assurance, or AI data evaluation experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GCP, HIPAA, or ICH guidelines is a plus.
• Clinical data management, bioinformatics, or health informatics background is a plus.
• Experience working with AI or machine learning teams in data governance is a plus.

Workplace and schedule

• Fully remote and flexible work arrangement.
• Hourly contract engagement with a stated commitment of 10–40 hours per week.

Engagement

• Work at the intersection of AI and life sciences on research projects.
• Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch.
