The opportunity

The Bid Manager is an initial technical point of contact for customers, providing support or consultancy before sales.

The role prepares quotations for solutions, services, and turnkey business, highlighting competitive pricing and technology.

The position supports Area Sales Managers, Contract Administrators, and Project Management with technical and design issues during project execution.

The Bid Manager may lead a regional team of Bid Managers when required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, coordinate, and submit bids ranging from simple to complex.
  • Calculate and coordinate quotations, upload them in SAP Projects assets, and establish and enforce internal controls.
  • Clarify technical issues with customers and agents and provide support before and during bidding.
  • Defend offers internally and occasionally locally in support of the Area Sales Manager.
  • Offer alternatives proactively when pricing issues or specification deviations arise.
  • Support Area Sales Managers, including during customer visits.
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests.
  • Write airfield lighting, VDGS, and Tower standards and methods.
  • Prepare RFQs for third-party suppliers and installation contractors, evaluate offers, and select suppliers.
  • Prepare gross bills of quantities for budgetary offers, including lights, signs, accessories, circuits, and CCRs.
  • Provide AGL/VDGS/Tower design support and technical guidance during project execution.
  • Support other Bid Managers in the Middle East and lead the regional team when required.

Experience and qualifications

  • Engineering background in aeronautical, airfield, airport, electrical, or industrial engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Five to seven years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of other airfield technologies.
  • Expert knowledge of ADB SAFEGATE products, solutions, and advanced customer services is preferred.
  • Knowledge of AGL, VDGS, or Tower technologies is preferred.
  • Knowledge of AGL/VDGS/Tower design and ICAO and FAA standards.
  • Good knowledge of government tender requirements in Africa.
  • Good experience and knowledge of framework and Service Level Agreement proposals.
  • SAP experience and Microsoft Office knowledge.
