Patient care and clinical duties

• Under registered nurse or midwife supervision, contribute to planning and delivering patient-centered care.
• Assist with activities of daily living, including meals and hygiene, in accordance with patient care plans.
• Maintain nursing or midwifery care standards using evidence-based guidance and unit competencies.
• Advocate for patients and uphold their dignity and rights.
• Report vital signs and care provided, document appropriately, and immediately report changes in condition or reactions to care.
• Respond to emergencies according to policy, initiate assistance, and perform BLS within regulatory requirements and scope.
• Provide supervised direct care according to therapeutic plans and individual needs; assist with preparing and maintaining care plans.
• Document detailed care in official patient records and reinforce clinician instructions, referring new learning needs to registered staff.

Coordination and escalation

• Facilitate post-discharge clinic visits, tests, follow-up appointments, and referrals as required.
• Help arrange patient transportation and maintain document flow for scanning when needed.
• Ask for clarification when uncertain and seek expert advice when unable or not competent to provide required care.
• Perform other duties assigned by a registered nurse or midwife within scope of practice.

Essential qualifications

• Hold an appropriate license to work as an assistant nurse or assistant midwife under the relevant regulatory health authority, including qualifications and experience it mandates.
• Manage professional re-licensure.
• Hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.
• Communicate clearly and effectively in spoken and written English.
• Be willing to work across departments when necessary.

Desirable qualifications

• Interprofessional teamwork ability is desirable.
• Organizational and administrative skills, including use of an electronic medical record platform for clinical documentation, are desirable.
• Effective Arabic communication is desirable.
