NEXT’s Commercial Finance team is recruiting an Assistant Finance Analyst on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract.
The role supports overhead functions, cost management, profitability, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and continuous improvement in a retail environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage month-end accounting for allocated cost centres, including accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Oversee cost allocations across Retail, UK Online, Label, and International divisions and manage cost recharges to Total Platform clients.
- Prepare monthly reports and variance commentary; compile forecasts and seasonal budgets; attend monthly cost reviews and answer ad hoc queries.
- Build relationships with cost centre managers and stakeholders to improve spend visibility and accurate cost capture.
- Review supplier accounts, reconcile datasets, and respond to audit requests with accurate supporting information.
- Use Power BI reporting, process improvements, and financial analysis to strengthen cost management; support wider team activities and manage competing priorities.
Candidate requirements
- Part-qualified accountant, such as studying towards ACCA or CIMA.
- Strong Excel skills and high IT literacy; an interest in Power BI and reporting improvements is desirable.
- Strong analytical and data-handling ability, with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Solutions-focused problem-solving, clear communication, and ability to explain financial information to finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Able to build working relationships, collaborate, take ownership, organise work, manage deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
