Role overview

Construction and coordination

• Read survey charts, provide inputs, and interpret engineering drawings across disciplines.
• Plan construction activities and define responsibilities for team members and departments.
• Identify and finalize contractors and vendors; ensure work orders and purchase orders are issued on time.
• Guide Contracts on rate finalization and Materials on timely site deliveries.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Design, Procurement, Commercial, and other departments.
• Plan manpower, optimize its use, and identify critical paths and activities.

Project controls and delivery

• Control project documentation and drawings; ensure statutory requirements are met.
• Prepare budgets for approval and track procurement costs against budget.
• Manage project safety and quality and evaluate machinery requirements for project applications.

Education and experience

• B.E. or B.Tech in Civil or Mechanical engineering.
• Master’s in Business Management.
• 18–20 years of experience, including five years as a Construction Manager.
• Experience handling large industrial projects in refinery, petrochemical, oil and gas, telecommunications, or power plants, with project values of 100–200 crores.

Technical knowledge

• Knowledge of survey practices, RCC construction, industrial structures, area grading, soil investigation, and strata stratification.
• Knowledge of drilling, blasting, structural erection, rigging schemes, precasting, and prestressing.
• Basic knowledge of earthing, cabling, instrumentation, PLCs, relay settings, panels, alternators, transmission, and power-generation equipment.
• Knowledge of construction technology, contract management, project schedules, and network-based techniques.
• Knowledge of QA/QC procedures, NDT, safety policies, and international construction quality standards.
• Knowledge of material control and reconciliation, work and purchase orders, billing methods, and labour laws.

• Construction activities involve coordination with multiple project sites.
