Adjunct Teaching Assistant, Critical Thinking and Writing

Program and role

Appointment length

• Attend approximately two to three mandatory orientation meetings before the summer session.
• The summer session lasts five weeks, approximately July 4 to August 6, 2027.

Responsibilities

• Support course delivery for two Summer Academy sections in Abu Dhabi.
• Help students individually or in small groups with classroom material, reading, writing, and homework.
• Attend pre-program meetings and training; assist with classroom group work and judging presentations as needed.
• Support students and specialists involved in cross-curricular or collaborative projects.
• Provide regular oral and written student feedback and report progress in faculty meetings.
• Report student misconduct, academic concerns, or health issues to program administration.
• Assist with co-curricular activities, excursions, trips, evening activities, and events; help ensure student safety.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English or a related subject.
• Availability to teach in Abu Dhabi during the listed dates and provide some online instruction if needed.
• Demonstrated English or related-subject tutoring experience.
• Commitment to effective teaching in cross-cultural or global learning environments.
• Experience supervising high school students in a co-curricular setting.
• Availability to assist with program planning before classes begin.

Preferred qualifications

• High-school or college-level English teaching experience.
• Bachelor’s degree and teaching assistant experience for university students.
• Advanced degree in English or a related subject.
• Experience teaching English as an additional language; familiarity with online and face-to-face instruction.

Workplace

• The role includes teaching in Abu Dhabi; some online instruction may be needed.
