Adjunct Specialist, IELTS Preparation

Summer Academy and role

Teaching and student support

• Teach IELTS Preparation to the Class of 2028 Summer I section in Abu Dhabi using the existing curriculum.
• Develop reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills, covering academic foundations, diagnostic and practice examinations, and strategies for exam components.
• Coordinate with other IELTS specialists to ensure consistent materials and a similar high-quality approach across sections.
• Support individual students, groups, and cross-curricular or collaborative projects; provide regular oral and written feedback.
• Attend faculty meetings, report on student progress, and submit detailed written feedback for use in college recommendation letters.

Program participation

• Attend all pre-program meetings or training sessions and assist with planning before classes begin.
• Assist with co-curricular events, excursions, trips, and program operations as needed.
• Supervise students during assigned day trips, extracurricular activities, and events, maintaining a safe and engaging environment.

Appointment

• The summer session runs for five weeks, from July 4 to August 6, 2027.
• Approximately two to three orientation meetings take place before the summer session begins.

Work location

• The role teaches in Abu Dhabi during the summer session.

Required qualifications and experience

• At least five years of experience teaching IELTS preparation, developing curricula, and mentoring students toward target scores.
• Master’s or PhD in English, Applied Linguistics, TESOL, TEFL, ESL, or a related subject.
• Availability to teach in Abu Dhabi during the session and assist with program planning beforehand.
• Demonstrated interest in cross-cultural education, enthusiasm for teaching, and experience supervising high school students in a co-curricular setting.

Preferred qualifications and experience

• Advanced degree in Applied Linguistics, TESOL, TEFL, ESL, or a related subject; high-school or college-level teaching experience in English.
• Work or internship experience teaching English as an additional language and familiarity with online and face-to-face instruction.
