Accountant – Gold & Diamond

Role Overview

Accounting Operations

• Manage daily accounting transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
• Record sales, purchases, expenses, receipts, payments, and journal entries.
• Prepare the general ledger and supporting schedules.
• Reconcile bank, cash, customer, and supplier accounts.
• Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable.
• Prepare financial and management reports and support month-end and year-end closing.
• Maintain documentation for financial transactions.

Gold and Diamond Inventory

• Maintain records for gold, diamonds, gemstones, and jewelry inventory.
• Record gold purchases and sales using weight, purity, rates, and value.
• Track diamond purchases and sales using quantity, carat weight, quality, and value.
• Track stock movements between branches, stores, warehouses, and workshops.
• Reconcile physical inventory with accounting and system records.
• Prepare inventory reconciliation and valuation reports.

Inventory Control

• Maintain daily gold rates and verify purchase and sales calculations.
• Monitor wastage, making charges, discounts, and other jewelry-related charges.
• Investigate discrepancies between physical stock and system records.
• Coordinate inventory matters with sales, purchasing, warehouse, and management teams.

Transactions and Accounts

• Verify diamond invoices, purchase documents, sales invoices, and supporting documentation.
• Maintain diamond carat, specification, certificate, cost, and selling-price records.
• Verify jewelry invoices and calculations for gold, stones, making charges, and related charges.
• Monitor customer orders, deposits, payments, and outstanding balances.
• Prepare supplier payment schedules and customer aging reports.
• Resolve accounting discrepancies with suppliers and customers.

Cash, Banking, and Compliance

• Monitor daily cash receipts, payments, deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and other banking transactions.
• Reconcile cash balances with system records and physical cash.
• Maintain documentation for cash and banking transactions.
• Maintain accounting records for audits and coordinate with external auditors.
• Ensure procedures comply with company policies and Qatar regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field is required.
• Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience is required.
• Gold, diamond, jewelry, or precious-metals industry experience is preferred, while practical gold and diamond inventory accounting experience is required.
• Previous Qatar or GCC market experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software or ERP systems is required.
• Good command of English is required; Arabic is an advantage.

• The candidate should demonstrate accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, and problem-solving ability.
• The role requires the ability to independently manage accounting transactions and reconcile high-value precious-metal and diamond inventory.
