Inventory control
- Support daily inventory activity and ensure stock is counted, recorded, stored, and controlled accurately, safely, and efficiently.
- Complete stock counts, cycle counts, location checks, inventory audits, and routine stock control.
- Check quantities, product codes and descriptions, batch numbers, expiry dates, packaging, and stock condition.
- Record movements, adjustments, discrepancies, damage, shortages, overages, and other information in warehouse systems.
- Use barcode scanners, handheld terminals, inventory systems, and other technology to maintain accurate records.
- Investigate discrepancies using warehouse locations, delivery records, movements, documentation, and system information.
Warehouse operations and safety
- Report missing, damaged, incorrectly labelled, expired, unidentified, or non-conforming stock; support quarantine, segregation, relabelling, returns, disposal, or correction.
- Assist with receiving, put-away, replenishment, picking, dispatch, stock rotation, and other warehouse work.
- Maintain correct storage locations, product identification, labelling, batch control, expiry monitoring, and FIFO or applicable rotation procedures.
- Keep storage areas, aisles, workstations, and inventory locations clean, organised, secure, and clearly labelled.
- Prepare inventory reports, count sheets, adjustment records, and discrepancy paperwork; communicate concerns and delays to supervisors.
- Handle products and equipment safely, check equipment, report defects and hazards, and follow health, safety, security, hygiene, quality, fire safety, and PPE procedures.
Additional duties
- Assist with stock variance, supplier discrepancy, customer query, inventory error, and warehouse process investigations.
- Support process improvements, stock management projects, seasonal demand, audits, and other warehouse requirements as directed.
- Perform other relevant duties assigned by the Direct Manager.
Experience and knowledge
- Previous warehouse inventory, stock control, warehouse assistant, stores, or similar logistics experience is desirable.
- Understand inventory control, stock counting and movements, rotation, product locations, and warehouse processes.
- Experience with stock counts, audits, or discrepancy investigations is advantageous.
- Experience using warehouse or inventory systems, barcode scanners, handheld terminals, spreadsheets, or computerised stock control systems.
- Know stock identification, product labelling, location control, batch tracking, expiry monitoring, and safe storage procedures.
Capabilities and schedule
- Accurately count, record, check, and reconcile stock; identify errors, investigate straightforward issues, and escalate concerns.
- Good numeracy, organisational, administrative, basic computer, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Organise and prioritise work, meet deadlines, follow procedures, and work independently and collaboratively during busy periods.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, carry, push, and pull goods and equipment for extended periods using safe manual handling procedures.
- Forklift or other material handling equipment certification is advantageous where relevant.
- Flexible hours may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, public holidays, overtime, and additional shifts as operationally required.
