Guest service
- Greet and seat guests promptly, present menus, and explain daily specials.
- Take accurate orders and enter them correctly into the POS system.
- Serve food and beverages to café presentation standards and check guest satisfaction.
- Handle requests, feedback, and complaints courteously, escalating to a supervisor when needed.
- Build rapport with regular guests and encourage repeat visits.
Coffee, menu, and coordination
- Maintain knowledge of coffee origins, roast profiles, espresso, V60, AeroPress, cold brew, and milk alternatives.
- Recommend coffee and food pairings and suggest add-ons.
- Advise guests accurately about ingredients and allergens, confirming with the kitchen when unsure.
- Coordinate order timing with baristas and kitchen staff.
Hygiene and service areas
- Clear, clean, and reset tables between guests; keep service stations, cutlery, crockery, and condiments clean and stocked.
- Follow Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority food-safety and hygiene requirements and company HACCP procedures.
- Maintain personal grooming and wear the uniform correctly.
Cash handling and team operations
- Process cash, card, and digital payments accurately; follow cash procedures and support end-of-shift reconciliation.
- Report payment discrepancies to the supervisor immediately.
- Complete opening and closing duties using checklists and attend pre-shift briefings.
- Support colleagues during peak periods, including takeaway and delivery handovers; report maintenance issues, breakages, and stock shortages.
- Perform other reasonable duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; a hospitality certificate is an advantage.
- At least 1–2 years' waiter experience in a café, speciality coffee shop, or casual dining restaurant; UAE experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of speciality coffee or a strong willingness to learn.
- Experience with POS systems such as Odoo, Micros, or similar.
- Valid Basic Food Hygiene certificate, or willingness to obtain one on joining.
- Fluent spoken English; Arabic or additional languages are advantageous.
- Able to stand for long periods, carry trays, and work flexible shifts.
