Role overview

Modelling and project delivery

• Interpret structural drawings, specifications, detailing standards, addendums, RFIs, reference models, and project documents.
• Create and update Tekla models covering primary and secondary steel, connections, embeds, stairs, handrails, ladders, and other miscellaneous steel.
• Identify missing information, discrepancies, clashes, potential RFIs, and constructability issues; coordinate resolution with project stakeholders.
• Support task planning, schedules, planned hours, and progress tracking against project milestones.
• Apply project standards, numbering systems, templates, reports, and workflows; contribute to improved modelling processes and productivity practices.
• Incorporate approved design changes, RFI responses, and client comments; support change estimates, logs, and change-order documentation.
• Communicate progress, technical challenges, risks, and potential delivery impacts to project team members.

Quality, drawings, and coordination

• Self-check deliverables, address review comments, follow quality procedures, and work with checkers and senior modellers to limit revisions and rework.
• Create, review, and refine shop-fabrication and erection drawings for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with client and company requirements.
• Support submittals, update submittal logs, track required documentation, and prepare modelling reports.
• Collaborate with project leads, managers, senior modellers, checkers, engineers, and BIM/VDC teams; share lessons and assist junior colleagues when required.

Required qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• 4–8 years of structural steel detailing experience, including hands-on Tekla Structures modelling.
• Experience in structural steel 3D modelling, detailing, and drawing production.
• Good understanding of steel fabrication, connections, and erection practices; working knowledge of AISC standards and U.S. detailing practices.
• Ability to interpret structural drawings, specifications, shop requirements, RFIs, and other construction documents.

Technical skills

• Intermediate to advanced Tekla Structures proficiency; structural steel modelling, detailing, connections, and constructability review.
• Knowledge of model validation, coordination, and quality-review processes; familiarity with material take-offs and modelling reports.
• Knowledge of AISC standards, OSHA requirements relevant to the work, and U.S. detailing practices.
• Familiarity with Tekla custom components, templates, reports, BIM/VDC workflows, and working knowledge of Trimble Connect.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam or similar review and markup tools.

Preferred skills

• Experience delivering U.S. structural steel detailing projects is preferred.
• Familiarity with change tracking, submittal documentation, project-management platforms, Tekla automation, and workflow optimization is preferred.
• Familiarity with Revit, Navisworks, or other BIM/VDC platforms is preferred.
• Attention to detail, commitment to technical quality, support for junior team members, and a continuous-improvement mindset are preferred.
