Testing, Commissioning & Handover Manager opportunity with Balfour Beatty VINCI on the HS2 project.
The role is based in Birmingham and supports work in the Central Region, including major structures, Bromford Tunnel and Interchange Station.
Testing and commissioning
- Develop and implement commissioning strategies, plans and procedures for MEP systems.
- Lead commissioning of mechanical, electrical and public health installations.
- Coordinate pre-commissioning, commissioning, integrated systems testing and operational readiness.
- Ensure testing and commissioning are safe and meet project requirements.
- Review and approve documentation, method statements and schedules; manage completion, inspection and test records against acceptance criteria.
- Coordinate specialist contractors and suppliers, monitor milestones, develop recovery plans and support troubleshooting.
Handover and asset integration
- Develop and deliver project handover strategies and verify O&M manuals, asset information and certification records.
- Oversee progressive completion and turnover of systems and assets against client, HS2 and operational standards.
- Coordinate training for end users and maintenance teams and support transition to operational readiness and asset acceptance.
Leadership and management
- Lead multidisciplinary commissioning teams and coordinate interfaces across MEP, civil, rail systems, architecture and operations.
- Manage commissioning risks, opportunities and lessons learned and ensure health, safety, environmental and quality compliance.
- Produce commissioning reports, KPI updates and project performance reports; participate in senior project meetings and stakeholder reviews.
Essential experience and qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant experience managing MEP testing, commissioning and handover on major infrastructure or construction projects.
- Knowledge of complex MEP commissioning, integrated systems testing, operational readiness and commissioning plans.
- Experience managing specialist subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams, with understanding of quality assurance, verification and acceptance.
- Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills; ability to manage programme, risk and priorities.
