Role overview
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will join the Commercial team delivering the West Midlands section of HS2.
The role is based on site in Birmingham, West Midlands.
Balfour Beatty VINCI is delivering a 90 km section of HS2, including bridges, tunnels, viaducts and other infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Initiate and lead tasks and processes, taking ownership and accountability for work and the roles of others within relevant governance parameters.
- Report relevant commercial aspects of a project section to a Project Manager or Commercial Manager.
- Protect the company's commercial position through knowledge of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes.
- Support effective client relationship management to enable smooth commercial progress of contracts.
- Manage, develop and support other commercial team members.
- Maintain commercial and technical knowledge and work with the delivery team to develop solutions for business and customer needs.
- Prepare subcontract invitations to tender, evaluate returns, recommend appointments and place subcontracts accurately and on time.
Experience and qualifications
- BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with NEC contracts.
- Experience working on a large infrastructure project.
- Experience on a civil engineering project.
- Membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB.
- Candidates must have current valid right to work in the UK.

Project information
The HS2 project section extends from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to central Birmingham and Handsacre in Staffordshire.
Planned works include viaducts, overbridges, cuttings, culverts, embankments, tunnels, underbridges and underpasses.
