Company and Team

Synopsys provides engineering solutions spanning silicon to systems, including simulation and analysis products and design services.

The role is part of the global Customer Excellence team supporting customers using Synopsys structural simulation software.

Role Overview

Join the Customer Excellence team as a Technical Support Engineer I supporting customers in Japan who use structural simulation products.

The entry-level or early-career role is based in India and involves working with the Japan support team on customer engineering simulation projects and software workflows.

The role uses engineering knowledge, technical resources, and AI-based platforms to diagnose issues and help customers use products successfully.

What You Will Do

  • Provide first- or second-line technical support for structural simulation products to customers in Japan and the Japan support team.
  • Reproduce reported issues, collect technical information, investigate solutions, and manage cases through resolution when appropriate.
  • Apply structural mechanics, finite element analysis, numerical methods, and simulation techniques to diagnose customer issues.
  • Escalate complex issues to senior engineers or subject matter experts with clear investigation summaries.
  • Collaborate with engineers, developers, product specialists, and support teams to resolve issues.
  • Create and update technical documentation, troubleshooting notes, FAQs, and knowledge-base content.
  • Perform data preparation, validation, manipulation, and analysis for technical investigations.
  • Submit product improvement suggestions and defect reports and assist with product-fix verification and application testing.

What You Will Need

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical, applied mechanics, aerospace, automotive, civil, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Sound academic or practical knowledge of structural mechanics and finite element analysis.
  • Basic understanding of numerical simulation methods and the ability to interpret engineering results.
  • Logical problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate technical issues systematically.
  • Fluent written and verbal English communication.
  • Ability to collaborate globally, work independently, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, customer focus, professional conduct, and willingness to take ownership.
  • Willingness to work hours providing reasonable coverage and collaboration with the Japan support team.

Additional Experience

  • 0–2 years of experience using structural simulation, finite element analysis, or related engineering software may be considered.
  • Experience with commercial or internally developed FEA software and structural analysis workflows is relevant.
  • Japanese-language proficiency is a strong advantage but is not mandatory.
  • Basic knowledge of Python, scripting, automation, SQL, databases, machine learning, or generative AI may be useful.
  • Experience with technical support, customer-facing, consulting, application engineering, product development, or software testing work may be useful.

Collaboration and Travel

  • The role involves collaboration across India, Japan, and other global locations and time zones.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Rewards and Benefits

  • The company offers health, wellness, and financial benefits, with further details provided during the hiring process.
