Role

Own product strategy for Synopsys' photonics portfolio, including OptoCompiler and Lumerical, used by photonic IC designers, optical engineers, and process engineers.

Work across photonics applications including datacom, silicon photonics, co-packaged optics, foundries, AR/VR, and quantum computing.

Product work

  • Own product roadmaps and translate customer workflows, feedback, and emerging use cases into requirements and prioritized feature backlogs.
  • Engage semiconductor companies, foundries, and research institutions to identify workflows, adoption blockers, and customer needs.
  • Prioritize roadmap decisions with R&D, sales, applications engineering, and customer success input.
  • Lead launches, defining release content, positioning, messaging, pricing and packaging recommendations, release content, and internal and external communications.
  • Support go-to-market plans, sales enablement, webinars, conference presentations, and technical collateral with Product Marketing.
  • Monitor competitors, industry trends, and ecosystem shifts to identify opportunities, partnerships, and investment areas.

Expected impact

  • Shape tools used for datacom, optical interconnects, co-packaged optics, metalenses, LEDs, and quantum computing systems.
  • Accelerate customer time-to-tapeout by addressing design, simulation, and verification workflow problems.
  • Strengthen differentiated photonic design automation and influence R&D investment with data-backed roadmaps linked to market outcomes.
  • Drive revenue growth through product positioning, pricing, and packaging aligned with customer value.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, optics, photonics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant product management experience, or 3+ years with an advanced degree.
  • Deep understanding of photonic design workflows and simulation methods such as FDTD, EME, or FEEM, with relevant customer use-case knowledge.
  • Direct experience with OptoCompiler, Lumerical, or adjacent photonic design and simulation platforms.
  • Ability to own roadmaps and balance customer impact, technical risk, competition, and business value.
  • Strong technical communication skills and experience leading product launches, including positioning, messaging, pricing, packaging, and sales enablement.
  • EDA, photonic design automation, optical simulation, or adjacent engineering software market experience is a strong plus.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for customer visits, conferences, and team meetings.

Working style

  • Make decisions with incomplete information, manage multiple stakeholders and workstreams, and turn customer discovery into actionable product insights.
  • Communicate effectively with technical teams and business leaders and keep customer needs, technical feasibility, and business outcomes aligned.

Team

Reports to the Director of Optics & Photonics Product Management and serves as primary Product Manager for the Photonics portfolio.

Collaborates with Product Managers for Speos, Zemax, cloud technologies, GPU solutions, licensing, and adjacent physics domains.

Works cross-functionally with Product Marketing, R&D, Application Engineering, Sales, and Customer Success.
