Qualifications and experience

  • Marine Engineering degree, Class 1, preferably in motors and steam, or another equivalent or relevant degree.
  • Experience sailing as chief engineer aboard LNG/LPG carriers.
  • Minimum 8–12 years of overall experience, including 2 years in a similar capacity supervising LNG/LPG vessels; alternatively, 2 years managing large-scale LPG/LNG repairs or maintenance, or 2 years as an LNG/LPG chief engineer.
  • Requires project management, budget preparation, troubleshooting, management, negotiation, risk assessment, and accident investigation skills.
  • Requires knowledge of large gas-carrier operations, cargo containment and handling systems, propulsion plants, and current international and local marine regulations.
