We are seeking an experienced
Technical Manager
to drive cost optimization initiatives across our interior, joinery, and fit-out operations.
The role focuses on improving processes, controlling project costs, and implementing value engineering strategies that maximize profitability without compromising quality, design integrity, or customer satisfaction.
This position acts as an independent cost controller and works closely with Estimation, Production, Design, Purchasing, and QA/QC teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct labour and material cost audits and establish labour productivity standards using time and motion studies, work sampling, and historical data.
- Liaise with Estimation, Production, and Design Engineering teams to validate material specifications, quantities, and cost efficiency.
- Develop and implement value engineering solutions that reduce waste, optimize resources, and improve construction efficiency without affecting design aesthetics.
- Review material and subcontract costs against project budgets and highlight any variances or cost overruns.
- Perform cost analysis on alternative construction methods, materials, and processes to identify the most economical solutions.
- Support Purchasing with technical inputs to ensure cost-effective material procurement.
- Assist the Estimation team in preparing quotations and calculating man-hours for complex joinery and fit-out works.
- Support QA/QC initiatives, ISO programs, and continuous improvement projects aligned with lean manufacturing principles.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the Interior, Joinery, or Fit-Out industry
- At least 3 years in a similar cost control or value engineering role
- Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, materials, and costing
- Proficient in MS Office and industry-related systems
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and results-driven professional
