Role overview
Design and manage IT systems and infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, and satellite connectivity for maritime environments.
Coordinate with IT operations, the IT department, cybersecurity, business users, and IT vendors.
Systems and communications responsibilities
- Administer physical and virtual servers, operating systems, updates, patches, and network devices.
- Install, configure, align, test, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain VSAT terminals, satellite modems, antennas, RF components, and associated equipment.
- Conduct VSAT site surveys, diagnose RF and IP faults, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Implement storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions; support organizational software and application integration.
- Implement security controls, monitor and optimize performance, and maintain system documentation.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum four years of relevant IT/System Engineer experience.
- Experience with Windows, cloud, virtualization, networking, enterprise infrastructure, identity, endpoint management, and IT security.
- Experience with VSAT and satellite communications; maritime or offshore experience is preferred.
Technical knowledge and language
- Knowledge of cloud models and architectures, TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, LAN/WAN, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, virtualization, and security controls.
- Automation experience with PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or similar tools; familiarity with Active Directory, Azure AD, Endpoint Manager, SCCM, Hyper-V, and AVD.
- Business-fluent English is required; Arabic is advantageous.
- Relevant Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, or ITIL certifications are preferred; Agile or Waterfall familiarity is noted.
